Central Missouri Fighter's Guild
Master Historical Martial Arts and Forge Your Path to Self-Improvement
About Central Missouri Fighter's Guild
The Central Missouri Fighter's Guild is a HMA (Historical Martial Arts) social club dedicated to the practice and study of historical weapons training.
Our values at the CMFG are numerous and non-exhaustive in this list. This document expresses the hopes, and martial values every member is expected to follow and demonstrate.
We are community first, whether in the relationships between members, friends and nearby fellows and in the larger community as a whole. We strive to connect with and to others and foster good relationships.
We will respect everyone, and take the higher road. We won’t be pushovers, or give in to pressure and trouble, but there’s a difference between firmness and rudeness. In every bout, match, session or fight, our fighters will hold respect to their opponent.
We hold safety as a priority. No one is obligated to spar or practice with unsafe measures or equipment, and this is banned as a general rule. Equipment must be maintained and treated well, actions and skill must be kept in check to minimize disaster. We will disallow faulty equipment if not up to requirements.
Regardless of our individuals’ goals, we will rise and push the historical combat community to greater heights and leave it better than we found it.
Our Focus
Historical Weapons Training
We practice practial techniques from various period sources and treatises using various equipment such as blunted tempered steel, flexible synthetic recreations, and foam analogs. Nothing is required at your first few meetings, as we have a few items to spare.
Safety
Safety is one of our largest priorities, ALWAYS match the armor to the weapon, and keep your equipment in good order. No one is obligated to spar with or against bad equipment.
At the end of the day, having fun and making friends is the best part of this hobby. We respect others and all go home at the end of the day, hopefully with just bruises, improved skills and a couple stories. Keeping good relationships is one of our highest goals while pushing our skill and training to further our martial art.
